What this site keeps, and why
Short version: very little.
xhuliocooks.com is run by Xhulio Jamaku. This page says what the site collects, what it is used for and who else handles it. Updated .
No accounts, no ad trackers
You can read every recipe without signing up, and the site sets no cookies of its own. There are no ads and no advertising trackers.
What stays in your own browser
A few features remember things on your device only, in your browser's local or session storage. Nothing of this is sent to the site.
- My table: the dishes you put on it, the number of guests and the shopping list items you ticked.
- Each recipe: the servings, the units (US or metric) and the ingredients you ticked off.
- The qeleshe: if you put the cap on, the site remembers it until you close the tab.
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it.
Hosting and visit counts
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare handles your IP address and the details of each request to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not follow you to other sites.
Videos
Videos are shown as a still picture stored on this site. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, the video plays from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), and Google's privacy policy applies to that video.
Comments and ratings
When you rate a recipe or leave a comment, the site stores your rating, your comment, the name you give and, if you add it, your email address, with the date, and emails them to me through Brevo so I can approve them. Your name, comment and rating are shown on the recipe once I have read them. Your email is never shown; it is only there so I can reply to you. Ask me and I delete your comment.
Messages and email
The site's emails are sent through Brevo, which keeps a log of each email it sends and may record when it is opened or a link in it is clicked.
The contact form sends me an email with what you wrote, your name, your email address and the photo, if you attach one. The message is not kept on the site; I keep the email in my inbox to answer you.
"Email me this recipe" uses your address to send that one email. The site does not keep it. If you also tick the box to join my newsletter, Brevo first sends you an email to confirm.
The newsletter is run on Brevo too. Your address is only on the list once you have confirmed it, and every email has a link to leave.
Keeping out spam
A hidden field catches most bots, and each connection can only send a few forms a minute; that counter is kept for a minute by Cloudflare and never stored. Where it is switched on, Cloudflare Turnstile also checks that a person, not a bot, is sending. When a page is not found, the site logs the missing address and the page that linked to it, without anything about you, so the link can be fixed.
Links to other sites
Links to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube are plain links. Those sites only learn about you if you follow them there.
Your data, your call
To see, correct or delete anything you sent through this site, write to me. I do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
